Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified construction inspector to serve as the primary liaison between contractor and engineer in observing and monitoring on-site work.

As a Construction Inspector at Environmental Design Group you will:

  • Inspect construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans, and/or proposals
  • Prepare and maintain project records and reports
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by the project engineer and defined in C&MS 105.09
  • Notify the contractor of non-conforming work
  • Perform data entry into ODOT's CMS/SITE MANAGER system or local documentation equivalent as directed by the project engineer or LPA person in responsible charge (as defined in the LPA participation requirements chapter of the Locally Administered Transportation Projects (LATP) Manual of Procedures)


  • Education: Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology
  • Experience: 2+ years
  • Certifications:  Highway testing certifications as required including but not limited to ACI Level I, Flexible Pavement Training and Ohio Aggregate Level I; National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Highway Construction Level II. ODOT Prequalified is a plus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Work hours are typically 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional evening work may be required as job duties demand.


Travel is primarily local during the business day.

Supervisor Responsibility

This position does not manage any staff.
