Environmental Design Group (www.envdesigngroup.com) is a multi-disciplinary design firm practicing civil engineering, landscape architecture, urban planning, and ecological restoration throughout Northeast Ohio.  Our multi-disciplinary approach is born from the diverse experience of our civil engineers, landscape architects, planners, surveyors, construction inspection staff, and environmental specialist.  Environmental Design Group offers a collaborative working culture in a family-oriented environment.   

Environmental Design Group is seeking a self-motivated and highly technical Construction Inspector/Resident Representative to join our team in our Akron, Ohio office with a knowledge of roadway, structure, utility and bridge construction methods, materials, standards and specifications; working knowledge of Ohio state and federal safety, environment, and DBE guidelines and regulations; and of mathematics including algebra, geometry and trigonometry.

Skills Required:

Working skill in operating computer equipment, software programs and field inspection equipment;
Ability to provide technical supervision and leadership to other inspectors;
Read and interpret roadway, utility, and Bridge plans and contract specifications;
Apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles to determine field adjustments;
Maintain detailed records;
Supervise/perform require materials testing;
Communicate effectively with agency and contractor personnel and the general public;
Education/Professional Requirements:

Successful candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.  Associates Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology or National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Highway Construction Level II is preferred.   8-10 years of experience in highway construction technician activities; the ability to obtain or currently have certifications for:  Concrete (ACI) Field; ODOT Aggregate;  ACI Level I; and proof of passing an Ohio Aggregate Level I; CPESC  Erosion and Sediment Control Inspection a plus.  Must have valid drivers license and have a vehicle for travel to, from and while on the project site. Pre-employment drug testing is required as a condition of employment.
