Job Overview

Environmental Design Group is seeking a self-motivated individual (S) to join our team in our Akron, Ohio office with knowledge in construction management and inspection procedures, ability to gain a working knowledge of the state (ODOT) and federal (FHWA) regulations as well as safety, environment, and local agency design standards.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to support the efforts of the Construction department participating in a range of projects.

Skills Required:

  • Working skill in operating computer equipment, software programs and field inspection equipment;

  • Ability to learn from other inspectors and work in a team environment;

  • Read and interpret roadway, utility, and Bridge plans and contract specifications;

  • Apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles to determine field adjustments;

  • Maintain detailed records;

  • Supervise/perform require materials testing;

  • Communicate effectively with agency and contractor personnel and the general public;

Education/Professional Requirements:  In the process of obtaining : Bachelor's Degree in Construction Technology/Associates Degree in construction technology or Bachelors of science Civil Engineering, or related field is required. Proficient in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, and Word] and other industry based software is a plus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Work hours are typically 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We are looking to fill the Spring and Summer Semesters for 2020 but further continual work may be available if we have a need.
 

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day.
